An early start for Bob Willis of LHV Precast. BP Excavation of Little Falls led by Project Manager Cody Petras is setting the three-sided culvert on invert slabs with retention sills. The project is located at Fuller Road over Steuben Creek in Steuben County.
The culvert is 70 liner feet in length. This culvert includes invert slabs with retention sills cast as a single piece. These pieces are 34’ wide x 20” thick with a 2’-6” tall x 3’-0” wide with a pedestal wall cast on top in 13 sections. The two (2) end sections are 35,000 lbs., the six (6) standard sections are 59,500 lbs. each. Three (3) 5’-10” pieces with one retention sill are 62,950 lbs. and two (2) 5’-10” with two-piece retention sills at 63,500 lbs. each.
Rounding out the precast structures are four (4) precast cut-off walls 17’-0” x 2’-4” x1’-6” at 8,920 lbs. each.
The wing walls will be set with the Stone Strong retaining system using the Chiseled Granite finish.
The culvert was engineered by Tamer Osman of Fisher Associates. Rick Amlin of Concrete Engineered Solutions engineered the Stone Strong Wing walls. LHV Precast layout and estimating was overseen by Joe Murphy with owner Bob Willis as our representative at the set site. Trucking to site was provided by Borwegen Transport. J&J Crane of Canastota provided site crane services.
